Here are three tips on how to increase your Industry Chat audience:
Research the basics of a good presentation
Take a look at our tips on best practices here. You will find tips on how to structure your time, tailor your language, use visuals for your presentation, and more. There are also video examples of each tip to see how to implement the suggestions.
You will be able to use these same tips when presenting to individual classrooms during a Teacher Requested Session. Gaining a reputation for being a great presenter will increase exposure and teachers will be eager to sign up when you offer an Industry Chat.
Do some research
Take a moment to search through the Video Library for previously recorded videos related to the topic you would like to cover. Gather your favorite ideas and use them to present it in a unique way. Take note of what there is a lack of information on and decide if it's something you would like to highlight in your presentation. You can also take note of what you liked and didn't like about the presentations you reviewed in the process, what grade levels you found are most interested in your career path, and what time of day your favorite presentations occurred.
Use this information to help you make an informed decision on what you would like to specifically focus on during your presentation. This will help you stay unique, relevant and will make for a captivating and well received Industry Chat.
Take a look at your calendar and plan ahead
Data suggests that the sooner you schedule your industry chat, the higher the chances you will increase chat attendance. Scheduling an industry chat at least 6-8 weeks in advance is vital, and is directly connected to enhancing reach and gaining momentum for your Industry Chat. This, in conjunction with finding when your topic is most discussed or celebrated, will significantly increase the chances of having a fantastic turnout for your Industry Chat.
